We are holding a 2-day Open Finance Sprint on 27 and 28 March 2025, at our FCA office in London, 12 Endeavour Square, London E20 1JN. The Sprint will kick off with a Bootcamp Briefing on Thursday, 20 March 2025 via MS Teams.  It will be important for you to attend the Bootcamp Briefing as it will help you learn more about the Sprint, structure and expectations and outline the agenda.

The UK has led on the development of open banking – where consumers and small businesses can give access to their payment account data to third-party providers to access tailored services. Open finance would extend open banking principles to give consumers and businesses more control over a wider range of their financial data, such as savings, insurance, mortgages, investments, pensions, and consumer credit. It has the potential to deliver transformative benefits for consumers and open finance participants alike.

Building on our previous work, such as our call for input and feedback statement in 2021, the Open Finance Policy Sprint in 2022, our work as part of the Joint Regulatory Oversight Committee (JROC), this Open Finance Sprint aims to inform our thinking and shape the future technological and regulatory framework for open finance, benefiting both consumers, businesses, and the market while minimizing risks.

This 2-day Sprint will split participants into teams who will take part in a range of activities and exercises focusing on use cases of open finance with the ecosystem of 2030 in mind. We will provide a platform for participants to collaboratively think about the future of open finance and the role of financial services as part of a smart data economy, with a fucus on 4 problem statements:

Problem Statements

  • Problem Statement 1Enabling better financial wellbeing through optimized credit data-driven decisions and debt management
  • Problem Statement 2: Leveraging data to empower better personal financial choices and growth
  • Problem Statement 3: Building consumer resilience for better financial choices to prepare for important life events
  • Problem Statement 4: Blue sky – mystery use case (to be revealed on 27th March)

More information can be found in our Open Finance Sprint - 2025 participation pack.

The Open Finance Sprint is an exceptional opportunity for us all to come together and consider the steps we need to take now, and in the future to accelerate open finance, including thinking about the role of financial services as part of a smart data economy, that would work for all and reposition the UK as an innovation leader internationally.
